I am a machine learning and natural language processing engineer.

I am the Chief Scientist of INKY, a cloud-based email security platform using AI to block phishing and other email threats.

I completed my Ph.D. in computer science (specializing in A.I. and machine learning) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010. My dissertation explored novel forms of semi-supervised learning, in which smart algorithms can be trained with minimal amounts of manually labeled data. View my publications at Google Scholar.

During graduate school, I held internships at Google Research and Microsoft Research, and prior to graduate school, I worked at Deitel & Associates, where I wrote and edited computer science textbooks. Before that, I got my B.A. from Amherst College with a major in computer science and senior thesis in using A.I. to solve sports scheduling constraint satisfaction problems.
